Le documentaire « Sculpteur » a remporté le Prix spécial du jury ainsi que le trophée du Meilleur court documentaire au Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF)

Le réalisateur iranien Ramin Hossein-Pour, avec son court-métrage documentaire  (Sculpteur), a ainsi décroché ces deux distinctions lors de ce festival international. Ce festival, qualifié pour les Canadian Screen Awards les Oscars canadiens, est considéré comme l’un des événements cinématographiques les plus prestigieux d’Amérique du Nord

Le film (Sculpteur) y était en compétition officielle dans deux catégories : Meilleure réalisation et Meilleur court documentaire. En remportant le Prix spécial du jury, il a une nouvelle fois attiré l’attention de l’industrie cinématographique internationale

Par ailleurs, Ramin Hossein-Pour a été sélectionné comme membre du panel international de l’industrie mondiale du film lors de ce festival, qui s’est tenu du 6 au 13 septembre 2025 à Toronto, au Canada. Cette œuvre est également en cours d’éligibilité pour concourir aux Oscars américains, aux BAFTA britanniques et aux Canadian Screen Awards en 2026

Hossein-Pour travaille actuellement sur un nouveau court-métrage intitulé « Le Prétendant » (The Pretender), consacré à la vie et à la pensée de Farid al-Din Attar de Nishapur, grand poète et mystique iranien, poursuivant ainsi sa trajectoire internationale dans le cinéma

En plus d’être réalisateur, Ramin Hossein-Pour est également architecte et compositeur, une identité plurielle qui le distingue dans le domaine du cinéma documentaire à l’échelle mondiale

The Iranian director won 2 awards at the New York Film Festival

The honor of the best short film director and the award for the best short film screenplay of the American festival went to the director of the Iranian film. “Ramin Hosseinpour”, director, writer and producer of the short film “Sculpture”, won the award for Best Short Film Director and Best Short Film Screenplay at the New York International Film Festival in December 2024 and January 2025. The short documentary film “The Sculpture” which contains the biography of Rumi and Shams Tabrizi in 642 AH was made based on a real story and narrative.

Iranian director Hosseinpour wins two awards at NY festival

Iranian filmmaker Ramin Hosseinpour received the Best Director of a Short Film and the Best Short Screenplay awards for his short documentary ‘Sculpture’ at the New York International Film Awards (NYIFA).
The awards were presented in December 2024 and January 2025, marking the sixth year of the NYIFA. The festival, known for showcasing some of the best short films each month, selects films through a rigorous three-stage process involving preliminary, semi-final, and final rounds of judging.
‘Sculpture’ is a historical documentary that delves into the lives of Rumi and Shams, set in the year 642 AH (1245 CE). The film is based on real historical accounts and has been recognized for its compelling storytelling and direction.
‘Sculpture’ has already secured a place among the top 50 short films, documentaries, and music videos on IMDb for 2025 and is currently in contention for the 2026 Academy Awards, Canadian Academy Awards, and BAFTAs.
In addition to his recent accolades, Hosseinpour’s ‘Sculpture’ was selected for the Best Short Documentary category at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2022, where it placed third. The film was also nominated for Best Short Documentary at the 78th Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Salerno in 2024 and won the Best Director of a Short Film award at the Crown Point International Film Festival in Chicago in September 2024.

Iranian filmmaker wins top honors at NYIFA for short film Sculpture/Soratgar
Iranian filmmaker Ramin Hosseinpour, writer, director, and producer of the short film Sculpture / Soratgar (The Portrait Maker), won the Best Director and Best Short Screenplay awards at the New York International Film Awards in December 2024 and January 2025.

This renowned festival, in its sixth edition, selects films through preliminary, semifinal, and final stages. Selected films are screened monthly at The Producers Club in Manhattan, New York, with public screenings set for January 20, 2025.

Soratgar is a short documentary based on the lives of Molavi or Rumi, the great Iranian poet, and his spiritual instructor Shams Tabrizi in 642 AH. It is currently in contention for the Academy Awards, BAFTA, and other prestigious honors in 2026, and ranks among IMDb’s Top 50 Short Films and Documentaries of 2025.

Previously, Soratgar secured third place at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2022, in the US, and earned nominations at the 78th FESTIVAL INTERNAZIONALE DEL CINEMA DI SALERNO, in Italy, and the Crown Point International Film Festival in 2024 in Chicago, the US.

Key collaborators on Soratgar include cinematographer Ali Ehsani, editor Ehsan Vaseghi, and artistic director Mohammad Nazari.

Ramin Hosseinpour’s video art was awarded at different other international festivals as well.

Hosseinpour was the music video director, producer, composer, arranger, and electric guitar player.
